The Wildlife Society showed up at Raymond Ranch Wildlife Area to help manager Dave Belitsky with his Native Fish pond project. We planted native seeds and tilled the Earth by day, and sat around a roaring campfire by night, playing music, swapping stories and making lasting friendships.
Spreading hay on the seeded area. Dave tilling the earth.
Anna from Washington came to help. Dave gives us some history of the area.
Our Reward: Seeing the Bison up close! Relaxing by the fire.
Thanks to Mark, Jason, Don, Anna, Dean, Koren, Anna, Emily and Cinder the wonder dog for all your hard work! ___________________________
Raymond Ranch II, this time we planted some root stock around the native fish pond and into one of the many canyons and also seeded a water tank! Thanks to Chris, Emily, Dean, Anna, Mayra, Amanda and Cinder the wonder dog for making a great weekend!
Digging holes for root plants. Seeding for erosion control.
Hard workers with big smiles! _________________________________________
Raymond Ranch III, once again we headed out to our 2nd home and helped to restore more wetland areas. This was our closest experience with the Bison yet as we stood only 20 yards away from the herd. We also helped to mist net bats for identification purposes.

AZGFD Highway 260 Elk Project: Some members of the NAU TWS went near Payson to help work on a AZGFD project that involved ways to help Elk cross Hwy 260 safely. Jeff Gagnon and Norris Dodd taught us how to trap elk in a Clover Trap (in order to collar them with radio transmitters), shoot a net gun, and more. In return, we helped them install some ground wires for a infrared camera system used to capture elk movement beneath highway crossings.
A unsuspecting volunteer got to be the Elk Jeff Gagnon loading a net gun

Annual Bowling for Bucks - 2004 Bowling Tournament: The NAU TWS Chapter has been the NAU Bowling Champions for 2 years now. First we beat the Biological Honor Society in 2003, and then we squared off against the Forestry Club in 2004, who, unfortunately forfeited the game by not showing up, so we played against each other, and had an amazing time.
The Bowling Champions!
